Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan and Republican Rep. Joe Pitts of Pennylvania co-hosted a press conference yesterday in which they focused on the hidden potential of the bill to require taxpayer-funded abortion coverage and threaten state and federal abortion regulations.
“This issue is not about party politics. It’s not about obstructionism. It is about saving lives and protecting pro-life Americans across the country,” said Rep. Pitts.

If the Senate will not be voting on the health care package prior to the August recess, we still don’t have time to be lazy; this is the time for us to write letters, talk with our neighbors and friends, and contribute to the groundswell of opposition to a bill which would mandate federal funding of Planned Parenthood, racial targetting, and other issues that we, as Christians, find wholly offensive and insupportable.
