House Letter asks for an open vote

This open letter to the House Leadership received attention at the various Pro-Life websites but I can find not a word of it in the mainstream press.  The coauthors are staunch Pro-Life Representatives.  They ask for a clear unencumbered vote by the entire House on abortion funding in the health care bill.  If your Congressman is not a signatory you could write and ask them why.

An article from – of all places – the Hindustan Times.
BIPARTISAN LETTER CALLS FOR VOTE ON ABORTION FUNDING

It starts with:

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 — Rep. Joseph R. Pitts, R-Pa. (16th CD), issued the following news release:

This week, a bipartisan group of 183 Representatives sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter requesting a vote on an amendment to prohibit government funding of abortion in healthcare reform legislation. Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA) and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) led the effort that garnered 25 Democratic and 158 Republican signatures.
